Glimpact is establishing itself in the United States to advocate for its comprehensive and systemic vision of environmental footprint.

The French startup, the first to model the PEF method through its technology (adopted as a reference by the European Union for the analysis and reduction of the overall environmental footprint of products and organizations, particularly in light of the adoption of the new eco-design regulation in January), will operate in the American market through its subsidiary based in New York: Glimpact North America.

With years of experience working with European institutions and companies across various sectors (textile industry, agri-food, retail, energy, cleaning and cosmetic products, media, etc.), Glimpact has decided to invest in the vast U.S. market. Its goal is to defend its pioneering approach to the evaluation and analysis of the overall environmental footprint beyond the Atlantic, where no methodological framework exists for environmental impact (not limited to the sole issue of greenhouse gas emissions).

This approach is based on the Product Environmental Footprint/Organisation Environmental Footprint (PEF/OEF) method, which measures the overall environmental impact of a product or organization by considering the 16 categories of human activity impact on the planet and the 9 planetary boundaries – including greenhouse gas emissions, water resource usage, land usage, fine particle emissions, and biodiversity concerns, among others.

The PEF/OEF method, recognized as a benchmark by the European Union in its new regulations under the Green Deal (such as the new eco-design regulation – ESPR, and the CSRD directive on non-financial reporting), has already been implemented by major international groups such as Lacoste, Décathlon, Carrefour, Chantelle, Manutan, Mars, and Puratos. These are companies that Glimpact supports, and they have deployed its technology as part of significant projects for the ecological transition of their production systems.

Through its digital platform for the analysis and reduction of the environmental footprint of products and organizations, the startup aims to radically change the perspective of major American economic players on the true challenges of the environmental crisis. It also aims to assist them in implementing eco-design strategies in line with the requirements set by the European Union under the new eco-design regulation. Otherwise, American industries may no longer be able to market their products in Europe. Glimpact's expansion across the Atlantic represents a significant opportunity for the French startup, selected by the European Commission to implement some of its new regulations, to quickly establish itself as a key player among American industrial stakeholders. It is also a way to advocate for its unique vision of European environmental sovereignty in the United States.

In the coming weeks, Glimpact will work on adapting its technology for the American market and launching its smartphone applications, GlimpactScan and MyGlimpact. These applications aim to raise awareness and convince not only American companies but also citizens and consumers of the validity of its comprehensive and systemic vision.
